How do Racial Points (RP) work? : Pathfinder_RPG


Race points were an attempt (a poor one) at giving a power level to a race. but they are primarily for race "building" based on the rules in the advanced race guide. but the thing is that the abilities and their point values aren't really balanced very well.

I transformed the Goliath into Pathfinder from 3.5 and figured a +1 point due to their ability scores fitting into the specialized ability pack. When taking a look at the chart that deals with levels and RP points, I figured that about 15 RP is a +1 LvL Adj and then with every +5 after that is another +1 LvL Adj.

The issue is, I have absolutely no idea how Pathfinder's race points system work, since I'm used to D&D 3.5e's system of ECL adjustment. According to this page on the OGC, a "Standard Race" has 1 - 10 Race Points. Does that mean they're about equal to the strength of a core race (like a Human/Half-Elf)?
